‘Sweet Girl’ to film in Pittsburgh / Casting Call

Jason Momoa is set to produce and star in the revenge thriller, Sweet Girl, for the streaming service Netflix. Momoa reunites with Brian Andrew Mendoza, Brad Peyton and Jeff Fierson from his time on the Frontier television show (on Netflix and Discovery Canada) and the Braven movie.

In addition to Momoa, Brad Peyton and Jeff Fierson of ASAP Entertainment will also produce for Sweet Girl.

“I’m excited to partner with Netflix once again,” Momoa said. “I’m putting a dream team together from Brad and Jeff to my best friend, Brian, who has been my partner for over 10 years. It’s a dream come true to collaborate with him and deliver his vision.”

“Brad and I are ecstatic about bringing another project to Netflix, who have truly made us feel like we have a home to make groundbreaking original features and series,” Fierson said.

The movie will be set in Pittsburgh and also start filming there this Fall, according to local news outlets.

From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers will be visited by none other than Aquaman himself, actor Jason Momoa, when the Netflix feature thriller, “Sweet Girl” begins shooting this fall.

Momoa, best known for his roles as DC Comics’ underwater hero and as Khal Drogo on “Game of Thrones,” will star as a man out for revenge after his wife is killed. He also is sworn to protect his daughter.

Netflix has built a presence here. The streaming giant created a large set for the 2020 series “I Am Not Okay With This” this past summer in Warrendale, and shot two seasons of its “Mindhunter” drama series around Pittsburgh.
